About CMN

A knowledge hub, not another NGO.

The Center for Migration Narratives is a nonprofit research and storytelling organization based in Berlin, with a transnational focus across Europe and Asia.

Our mission

We connect academic inquiry, lived experience, media narratives, and public dialogue — to promote a deeper understanding of migration, displacement, mobility, integration, and identity.

A world where migration is understood through evidence, human experience, and informed public dialogue — rather than stereotypes, misinformation, or political polarization.

Our vision

What we believe

Four principles

Community-first research

We co-produce knowledge with affected communities, not about them.

Dignity in storytelling

We portray people in transit as protagonists of their own narratives — never as statistics or symbols.

Open access

Everything we publish is free to read, cite, and reuse.

Editorially independent

We accept no government funding, preserving full editorial and research independence.
